Privacy Policy

CD Academy Basketball ("CD Academy", "we", "our") offers basketball training, team programs, camps, and competitive events for young athletes on Montreal's South Shore. Most of our players are minors, so protecting their personal information — and yours — is a responsibility we take seriously. This policy explains what we collect, why, how we protect it, and the choices available to you as a parent, guardian, or player.

Who this policy applies to

This policy covers players and their parents or guardians, coaches and volunteers, and anyone who visits our website, registers for a program, books a session, or contacts us.

What we collect

  • Parent or guardian contact details: name, email address, and phone number
  • Player information: name, date of birth or age group, team, jersey number, and any medical or emergency information you choose to share with us
  • Account information: email address and sign-in credentials when a player or family account is created
  • Registration and booking details: programs, sessions, and events you sign up for
  • Photos and videos taken at practices, games, camps, and team events
  • Messages you send us through the contact form, by email, or by phone
  • A small number of technical essentials needed to run the website (see "Cookies" below)

We collect only what we need to run our programs safely — nothing more.

How we use personal information

  • To manage registrations, team rosters, and schedules
  • To communicate with families about practices, games, tournaments, and schedule changes
  • To keep players safe, including reaching a parent or guardian quickly and being aware of medical needs a family has shared
  • To publish game results, team standings, and player statistics
  • To share team moments through photos and videos, with consent
  • To answer questions and respond to messages

We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Children's privacy

Our programs are designed for minors. We collect a child's personal information only from, or with the consent of, a parent or guardian — normally at registration. Parents and guardians may review their child's information, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it at any time by contacting us (see "Contact us" below).

Photos and videos

Team and game photos or videos may be published on our website and on our social media pages (Instagram and Facebook). Consent is collected at registration, and photos submitted by players are reviewed and approved by an administrator before they appear on the site. You may withdraw consent or ask that a specific photo or video be removed at any time — we will remove it from our website promptly and from our social media pages wherever feasible.

Game results and statistics

Player names, teams, and game statistics may appear on public pages of our website, such as schedules, results, and stat leaderboards. If you would prefer that your child's name not appear publicly, contact us and we will accommodate you.

Who we share information with

  • League and tournament organizers (for example, the OQBL) receive the rosters and results needed for competition
  • Service providers that operate parts of our website on our behalf: Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage), Resend (email delivery), and Google Calendar (schedule synchronization)

These providers process information only on our instructions. Some providers may store data on servers located outside Quebec or Canada; where that is the case, the information receives protection comparable to this policy. We never sell personal information to anyone.

How we protect information

Personal information is stored in access-controlled systems. Access is limited by role, administrator accounts require multi-factor authentication, and player-submitted content is reviewed before publication.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information while a player participates in our programs and for as long as reasonably needed afterwards for administrative or legal purposes. After that, it is deleted or anonymized. You can request earlier deletion at any time.

Your rights

Under Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25) and Canada's PIPEDA, you may ask to see the personal information we hold about you or your child, ask us to correct it, withdraw consent, or ask us to delete it. Contact our person in charge of the protection of personal information at the address below. You may also file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.

Cookies

Our website uses only essential cookies: one that keeps you signed in to your account and one that remembers your language preference (English or French). We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.

Changes to this policy

When we update this policy, we will post the new version on this page with a new "Last updated" date. If a change significantly affects how we handle players' personal information, we will notify parents and guardians by email.
